Chapter 188 – (Part 1)

Qi Bai walked over to Lang Ze. “Just a few more days and we’ll be harvesting the first batch of vegetables from the garden.”

Lang Ze pulled the last wild weed from the ridge and stood up. “Already? That fast?”

“Yep. Stuff like scallions and leafy greens grow quickly — especially scallions. You cut them once and they keep growing back. We’ll be eating well for a while,” Qi Bai nodded, pointing to the nearby vegetable plots. “Though we didn’t plant too much. Things like barley and sweet potatoes won’t be ready until fall.”

Qi Bai smiled. “But once that time comes, we’ll have a solid food supply. We’ll set aside enough seeds too. Next year we can open more land and grow even more.”

Lang Ze looked out over the wide-open land beyond the cultivated plots and nodded. “If we really get a good harvest, the clan won’t have to worry about going hungry this winter.”

Qi Bai nodded. “Exactly. And that means by next spring… we can leave with peace of mind.”

Lang Ze froze. “Leave?”

“Yeah. We can’t stay in this tribe forever. The Beastman Continent is huge. Let’s go see it together.”

He shuffled closer to Lang Ze and said seriously, “I asked Hou Su. The cities aren’t completely closed off to outsiders. As long as we meet the entry requirements, we can go.”

He patted his chest. “And with the amount of money we’ve got? Entry requirements won’t be an issue.”

That conversation with Hou Su had revealed a lot — including the fact that he had actually been born in one of those cities. He left only because his weapons weren’t recognized, and so he became a wandering beastman.

According to his experience, each city had different requirements for entry. Some required a resident’s personal sponsorship, others charged entrance fees. Some conditions were even stricter or downright ridiculous.

But Qi Bai wasn’t concerned. As long as the cities weren’t totally closed off, there was room to maneuver.

And with real gold and silver in hand, Qi Bai didn’t believe there was a single city whose gates he couldn’t crack open.

Lang Ze listened, feeling warmth spread through his chest.

Qi Bai wouldn’t bring this up without reason — he was clearly doing it for him.

The news brought by the Jufeng clan and Diao Lan had cast new doubt over the destruction of the Silver Moon Tribe. Maybe there was something deeper, something Lang Ze had missed.

That feeling only intensified after meeting the Jufeng clan today.

Lang Ze was almost certain now — those tribes that had once banded together to destroy the Silver Moon weren’t just after supplies. There had to be a hidden conspiracy.

Before, Lang Ze only wanted to rescue the clanspeople scattered outside and save them from slavery.

But now? Now it was about his father and mother-father, about all those Silver Moon clanspeople who had died tragically. Lang Ze wanted the truth — and he wanted those behind the curtain to pay.

What surprised him was that as soon as this determination took root in him, Qi Bai had already made up his mind to go with him to find the truth.

Lang Ze knew — Qi Bai wasn’t just going to “have fun” in the cities. Everyone knew how dangerous the world outside the tribe could be.

Lang Ze almost said, “You stay here. I’ll go alone.”

But looking into Qi Bai’s clear, determined eyes, he knew: Qi Bai would never let him go alone — just like Lang Ze himself could never leave Qi Bai behind.

The tightness in Lang Ze’s heart faded. He pulled Qi Bai into his arms and gently kissed the top of his head. “Alright. Next spring, we’ll go see the outside world — together.”
